composed 2005

Please note: the copyright owner of Dorothy Parker's lyrics, the NAACP, unfortunately does not permit the displaying of Parker's lyrics on the Internet. If you wish to preview the actual settings of the lyrics, please email us and we will be happy to send you one or two of the songs in their entirety, gratis.

Pearls and Rubies may be purchased and performed. It is only the
displaying of Parker's lyrics on the Internet that is prohibited.

The set contains the following titles:

1. The Choice
2. On Being a Woman
3. Frustration
4. Theory
5. The Leal
6. Fighting Words
7. Inscription for the Ceiling of a Bedroom

This set reflects some of the irony and wit for which Parker was famous, covering subjects such as love, anger, loyalty and life in general. The musical language has occasional jazz undertones, requiring a legit singer with some jazz leanings or a jazz singer with some legit leanings. The vocal writing is mostly mid-range. The songs in this set may be performed individually.
